Big Baby Blues

We still haven't noticed any change in the color of Keegan's eyes. A couple weeks ago we thought we saw tiny specs of green, but we can't see it anymore. He's almost eight and a half months old now, and his eyes are still a very light blue. This blue-eyed baby loves playing with his daddy whenever he gets the chance. Hopefully, Jonas's work schedule will get better in the next few weeks.

Rule #161. Have regular medical and dental check-ups.

A New Way to Sleep

Well, not for Keegan. He (like most babies) sleeps like this almost all the time. It's just so darn cute!

Rule #160. Use seat belts.

Playing With Daddy

This is quite possibly the cutest video we have of Keegan thus far. Enjoy!

Sophie's Bath!

Well, it seems like we are always having a flea problem. The other night, I was looking under Sophie's harness (she is always the one with more fleas due to her color) and she had 20+ fleas just on her neck. I immediately started the bath water and hoped for the best. The last time I tried this, I wound up with a gigantic (and very painful) scratch going all the way down my leg and the top of my foot.

So, I took proper precautions this time. I put on jeans, some soccer socks, and tennis shoes before letting Sophie know that the bath water was for her this time. She HATED it. I'm not to sure it even helped in getting rid of any fleas. While I was trying to hold her in the tub, Bo started acting funny too. He got on the side of the tub and started swatting over and over again at Sophie, as if trying to save her (that's my opinion of it).

Anyway, I'm sure that Sophie is still a wee bit ticked at me for this attempt to make her more comfortable. Tomorrow, I'm just going to suck it up and spend the money on Frontline. Hopefully it'll be worth it.

Rule #157. Take time to smell the roses.

Our First Anniversary :)

Jonas and I, exactly a year ago today, said our vows to one another and were married. This past year has gone by so fast, I can't believe it. Jonas, unfortunately, is asleep right now and will be until right before he has to leave for work tonight. He did, however, get me a WONDERFUL gift - a day at the spa (a very much needed day at the spa). I am sooo looking for to that (I won't get to use it until probably June 10th). I found him a really good fussball table and went and picked it up in Keithville (one of Shreveport's suburb cities) and surprised him with it. He says he loves it - it is sitting in David and Kalie's garage right now and move it into our house this weekend. Exciting!!

Rule #156. Strive for excellence, not perfection.

Family Update

I have set up Gizmo's cage last night, and immediately, Keegan ran (by that I mean crawled) inside as fast as he could and loved it.

Who is Gizmo? you may ask. Gizmo is our sweet little pure bred Border Collie puppy, born on April 9th, 2009.
I pick him up on Friday. I'm so excited. Okay, now you're probably thinking, wait wait wait..you're getting a dog when you got rid of Vixey, the other dog, in November because of the apartment?? That will bring me to my next point. On Saturday, Jonas and I will be getting the keys to our first house!! Here is the front of the house. That other house in the picture, the one on the left side, is our good friend's David and Kalie's house! Makes if fun and convenient, huh? Here is the back of the house.
And here is one of our favorite parts of the house - the back yard! Both corners (we couldn't fit it all in one picture)

And all of this just in time for our FIRST WEDDING ANNIVERSARY, which is on Thursday, May 21. Woo hoo! Big week :)

Rule #155. Have a will and tell your next-of-kin where it is.

Injury Update

Well, the picture explains it all. It's looking a lot better, but we're still doing work to keep it from getting infected.

Rule #154. Resist the temptation to put a cute message on your answering machine.

Attack of the Bottle!!

Yesterday, I was playing with a bottle and pretending that "it was gonna get" Keegan, and he loved it! He had such a good time, and seeing these pictures just warms my heart. :)

Rule #153. Stand at attention and put your hand over your heart when singing the national anthem.

Standing Up!

Every day, Keegan gets better and better at standing up on his own. We've only been able to capture one picture and you can't really tell that he's standing, but here it is!

Avery Comes to Play!

Yesterday, Avery came over for a few minutes so Kalie could go to the Kenny Chesney concert (David wasn't quite yet off of work). Keegan, like always, got very shy and reserved when she was over, and Avery, on the other hand, was her bubbly little self all over the place. Here you can see that Keegan is being a camera hog and is sort of pushing Avery out of sight, hehe.Keegs being shy while Avery climbs in and out of the wagon.
Rule #151. Get acquainted with a good lawyer, accountant, and plumber.

First Work Injury

I made the pic really small so that only those that really want to see it can choose to. Click on the picture for a larger image.
Jonas was working with the knives on the winder. He was winding them up (or something to that extent) when his hand slipped and his finger his the metal covering on the knives. Had he hit the actual knife instead of the covering or had it been just a quarter of an inch further down the finger, the results would've been just horrible.

Rule #150. Sing in a choir.

Eight Months Old!

Today, Keegan becomes 2/3rds of a year old. The big eight months. Also today, Keegan stood up (with my help) and stayed on his feet for a full minute (without holding on to anything). He hasn't done it since but it most certainly is progress! Hopefully I can get him to do it again tonight for Jonas when he comes home from work.

Rule #149. Skip on meal a week and give what you would have spent to a street person.

Drummer Boy

Well, the title explains it all!! Keegan beats on anything and everything he touches. He loves it, as you can see in the video. He's so happy and excited!

Rule #148. Learn to handle a pistol and rifle safely.

Getting SOOOOO Close!

Keegan is definitely within weeks, if not days, of standing up on his own without the assistance of anything. You can see in this video how close he is getting. He can get off his booty on one foot and one knee. I think he knows what his goal is, he just doesn't know how to get there yet. It's a work in progress, but we're getting closer!

Rule #147. Turn off the television at dinner time.

Keegan's First Wagon

Yesterday, Jonas put together a STEP 2 wagon. Keegan absolutely LOVES it! I left the door to it open today and he was crawling in and out of it as he pleased. I can't wait to take him out on it. It has two seats so that he can have a friend in it with him. It's so cool!He couldn't wait for his daddy to finish putting it together before getting in.
Rule #146. When playing games with children, let them win.

Got Teeth?

I found a picture where you can kind of see Keegan's top teeth. I'm sure by next week they'll be out a lot more and I'll be able to take a better picture of them. In the meantime, here it is!

Rule #145. Keep a flashlight and extra batteries under the bed and in the glove box of your car.

Sick Baby Report

Keegan and I were going through some boxes in his closet on Sunday when we came upon a couple of very dusty ones. The dust went everywhere, causing a "sneeze attack" on Keegan. After about five sneezes, I decided that wasn't normal and moved him out of the closet. After ten MORE sneezes, he was finally done. But that was just the beginning.

His voice then got very hoarse and scratchy and his eyes got red, puffy/swollen, and watery. You can see a little bit how bad his eyes looked in the picture above, which I took on Sunday night. Yesterday, he progressively got better throughout the day. He was sneezing less and the puffiness went down in his eyes.By last night, every was totally back to normal, except for his scratchy voice. Now, he is just having some bloating problems and still has the hoarse voice. He's getting better every hour though. Thank goodness!!

Rule #144. Take someone bowling.

Reader Comment - Pretty Please :)

Well, today was a "day off" for Jonas, he got off work this morning and doesn't go back until Wednesday morning. Poor Keegan is sick so we have been home all day recuperating.

I have recently added something to the blog that allows me to see the number of views I have daily and from where. I have been getting hits from various places in North America and Europe, and even a few hits in Thailand. I am curious as to who my readers are and from where, so if you don't mind, I would absolutely LOVE for you to comment telling me where you are reading from and if you are a one time visitor or daily or however often it may be. Thanks so much! It's because of you readers that I continue to post in here. :) Hope everyone is having a wonderful week so far!

Happy Mother's Day!

Well, this year was my first real mother's day. On his way home from work this morning, Jonas picked up a beautiful bouquet of flowers. Keegan has had a pretty rotten day with his new teeth coming in, but luckily he let me take a three hour nap in the middle of the day (very much needed).
Unfortunately, Jonas had to go back to work tonight, and right now Keegan is still awake and I think getting sick. Poor baby. Anyway, I wanted to give a couple of Mother's Day "shout outs."

First, to my wonderful mother-in-law, Babs. You have been so kind, loving, welcoming, helpful, and just overall great. Thank you so much for everything. A very, VERY crucial part of any marriage is the mother-in-law; I'm so lucky and happy to have you as mine. :) Happy Mother's Day, Babs! (aka Oma!)

I'd also like to wish a very special Mother's Day so my mom. Mom, you've been there for me through every thing in my life - my soccer games, my piano recitals, my speeding tickets, haha I could go on. You were there through the good, the bad, and the sometimes very ugly. Thank you so much for putting up with me for so long and continuing to answer the phone when I call with every little question about anything and everything. You have oustanding strength. :) I love you so much Mom, Happy Mother's Day.

I'd also like to wish my friends that are first-time mom's this year a Happy Mother's Day - Kalie, Amy, Ashley, Deirdre, Sascha, and Loren. Happy Mother's Day to you all!

Happy Mother's Day to Uroma Renate, Grandma Bryce, Grandma McKinley, all of my aunts (Lisa, Tina, Meli, Marchelle, Wendy, Alaina, Sheree, and Tammy), my cousins Melissa and Kierra, and oh gosh I probably shouldn't have done that because I'm SURE I forgot someone! Love to you all, Happy Mother's Day!!

Up To SIX!! && Family Member Update

Well, Keegan was up until midnight last night and I discovered why this morning. TWO MORE TEETH! He now has four across the top and the two on the bottom. That's SIX teeth now! I can't believe it, three or four days ago he only had three teeth. This is happening so fast!

Also, I just wanted to update everyone on the members of the Schuster family. Some of you may remember Vixey, the very sweet dog we got in November. Well, we decided after about three weeks that the apartment was just not the right place to have a dog. Luckily, the shelter took her back and within two days of being at the shelter, she found her permanent home! She was such a wonderful dog, but I know she's having a better life now than she would have had in a dinky two room apartment!

[Vixey.jpg]

And then there was Bing (which we later named "Bingo"). He only stayed with us for maybe three days before we "kicked him to the curb." A ferret + a baby = NOT GOOD.[DSC03476.JPG]

So now we are back down to our lovely cats, Bo and Sophie.[March+09+013.JPG]

And, of course, the three of us. :) Now everybody is up-to-date on the family pets!

"Ababab Guhh Adda"

Here are a couple videos of Keegan "talking"!

Rule #140. When starting out, don't worry about not having enough money. Limited funds are a blessing, not a curse. Nothing encourages creative thinking in quite the same way.

First Pizza!

This was back in March, but it was lost in with the Georgia pics, so here is Keegan having his first "bite" of pizza!
Yummm!
Rule #139. Never deprive someone of hope; it might be all they have.

Recovered Pictures From Trip to Georgia

Well, my camera was found and shipped to me. I got it in the mail this morning, so here are the best ones for you to look at!

Here is the Keegmeist in front of the beautiful fireplace. On this night, he and I curled up next to the dimming fire and fell asleep. Something took him by surprise!! Hehe
Colton teaching Keegan to play the drums...on pots.
Here is Keegan standing up for close to the first time! Look at how stable he was after only one day!!
Here is Keegan in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, with my good friends, Abbey and Chase.

Rule #138. Learn Spanish. In a few years, more than thirty-five percent of all Americans will speak it as their first language.

Keegan's FOURTH Tooth!

That's right! Keegan's fourth tooth broke through this morning. It is his first top-front tooth to break through! I feel like the other two on the top (another top then the next one in line) are not far behind this one. But for now, that makes two on the top and two on the bottom.
The green teeth represent the teeth that he now has showing through the gums, whether it be a little or a lot. The pink are the ones that I feel will be breaking through in no time. He's growing up so fast! (hehe after four teeth.. Imagine how I'll be when he starts driving!)

Rule #137. Keep your watch five minutes fast.

Hanging Around

Today is the last day of Jonas's "big break" (72 hours). He and Keegan are both sleeping right now, so I get to post pictures and videos taken during his break.

We basically just relaxed because we have a busy month ahead of us.

Here is Keegan playing with his "Little Cutie" and whatever else he can find.

He's starting to talk more and more every day!

Rule #136. Have dull-colored teeth whitened.

Just Like Daddy

I walked into the bedroom the other day to find Jonas at the sink and his son not far behind. Keegan is Jonas's little shadow; there's not doubt that he wants to be just like his daddy.

Rule #135. Have crooked teeth straightened.
